Week 10: Tiny Fingers, Toes, and First Wiggles
Your baby is now about the size of a strawberry.
Avg. Length: 3 cm
(Crown to Rump)
Your Baby This Week
Your baby, about the size of a strawberry, has officially graduated from a webbed-fingered embryo! Fingers and toes are now separate and distinct, and elbows can bend. Though you can't feel it, they're making jerky movements visible on an ultrasound. Fingernails and external ears are also starting to form.
Your Body This Week
Your uterus is now the size of a large orange, which might make your jeans feel a bit snug. Thanks to the hormone progesterone, you may feel extra bloated or gassy. According to the NHS, this hormone relaxes your digestive muscles, which can also lead to heartburn. It's a normal part of your body making room for baby.
Tips for Your Partner
Emotional support is huge right now. Be there to listen, offer a hug, and help ride out any mood swings. You can also lend a practical hand by helping with meals. Focus on balanced dishes with whole grains, veggies, and lean proteins like fish, which are great for both mom and baby.
