Week 6: Tiny Limbs Appear
Your baby is now about the size of a lentil.
Avg. Length: 0.6 cm
(Crown to Rump)
Your Baby This Week
Your baby is about 6mm long and looks like a tiny tadpole with a C-shaped curve! Small buds that will become arms and legs are making their first appearance, and structures for the eyes, ears, and mouth are taking shape. The crucial neural tube along the baby's back is closing, which is the foundation for the brain and spinal cord.
Your Body This Week
Pregnancy symptoms might hit with full force this week. Prepare for fatigue, tender breasts, and more frequent trips to the bathroom. Morning sickness may also begin, but be warned—it can strike at any time of day. Your body is adjusting to major hormonal changes, so be gentle with yourself and rest when you can.
Tips for Your Partner
Hormones are in full swing, so be patient with any moodiness. This is a great time to offer extra support and listen to her worries. Instead of letting her camp out on the couch all day, suggest a gentle 30-minute walk together after meals. Your encouragement to stay active (and your understanding) can make a huge difference in how she feels.
