Week 4: A Poppy Seed with a Purpose
Your baby is now about the size of a poppy seed.
Avg. Length: 0.2 cm
(Crown to Rump)
Your Baby This Week
Your little one is now an embryo, about the size of a poppy seed, and has implanted in your uterus! A protective amniotic-sac is forming a fluid-filled cushion around it. For now, a tiny yolk sac provides nourishment while the outer cells begin to build the placenta, which will soon deliver oxygen and nutrients for the months ahead.
Your Body This Week
You might notice PMS-like symptoms like bloating or tender breasts, and some women experience light implantation spotting. However, it's just as common to feel nothing at all! While some home pregnancy tests claim early detection, medical bodies often recommend waiting until the first day of a missed period for the most accurate results.
Tips for Your Partner
If you get a positive pregnancy test, take a moment to celebrate this incredible news together! Her body is already working overtime and she may feel very tired. Offering to help out a little more around the house can make a big difference. Your support is key.
